Sickem Records
Detroit Label · Grammy-Nominated Production
Home to artists who have toured the world and producers with Grammy nominations to their name. Studio infrastructure, A&R discipline, and a roster that competes nationally.
The Creative Union is a coalition of Detroit's strongest creative companies — labels, agencies, studios, and production houses — pooling infrastructure, capital, and clients to scale together. And to keep that scale anchored in Detroit.
Detroit is home to over 100,000 creative professionals — artists, producers, designers, directors, photographers, marketers. The cultural output is world-class. The economic return isn't.
National brands hire LA and New York agencies. Detroit artists fly out to record. Detroit photographers shoot for clients that never set foot in the city. The talent stays. The contracts don't.
This isn't a talent problem. It's an infrastructure and capital problem — and it's the one we're built to solve.
Anyone who makes. With a phone, an idea, and an internet connection, anyone can create — and that's worth celebrating. The creator economy gets the headlines.
What a creator becomes when passion turns into enterprise. When the work develops systems, employs people, generates payroll, signs contracts, and contributes to a tax base. The creative economy builds cities.
Small business is the backbone of America. Creative business is the backbone of culture. Detroit deserves both.
Our headquarters at Chroma houses the production capacity, studio time, event space, and creative resources our member companies need to operate at scale — and to host clients, partners, and collaborators in a space that represents Detroit at its best.
Studios, equipment, post and edit suites used across member companies. One investment, multiple businesses scaled.
Member companies bid jointly on contracts no single firm could land alone — retaining the work, and the dollars, in Detroit.
Events, workshops, and brand activations that draw national attention to Detroit creative work and feed pipeline back to member companies.
We are founders, operators, and artists who have already built what Detroit needs more of: real businesses with real systems, real payroll, and real reach. The Union is how we lock arms.

The Union is a coalition of companies, but it's built by people — operators, founders, and creatives putting their time and weight behind making Detroit's creative economy something we own.
The Creative Union is built by founding members putting in capital, time, and infrastructure to stand it up. Donor support accelerates the build — the studios, the programming, the pipeline that keeps Detroit creative work, and Detroit creative payroll, here.
Note on tax-deductibility The Creative Union has applied for 501(c)(3) status; our application is currently under IRS review. Contributions made now are not yet tax-deductible. Once approved, status applies retroactively to our incorporation date, and we will issue updated receipts to donors of record.
Foundations, civic partners, brands, and creative companies — the Union is open for the conversations that matter. Tell us where you fit, and we'll be in touch.
Detroit built one of the most influential cultural economies in American history once. Motown wasn't just a sound — it was infrastructure. A label, a studio, a team, a system. The Creative Union is the infrastructure for what comes next.
